Gettysburg Address

1863年７月初，北军为夺取位于宾夕法尼亚的葛底斯堡与南军激战，伤亡２万余人，为纪念阵亡将士，同年１１月在葛底斯堡建立了国家公墓．本篇是林肯在公墓落成典礼上的致辞，虽不足３分钟，确是流传千古的佳作．
Fourscore and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth upon this continent a new Nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now, we are engaged in a great Civil War, testing whether that Nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting-place for those who gave their lives that Nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it far above our power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated to the great task remaining before us; that from these honored dead, we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion; that this Nation, under GOD, shall have a new birth of freedom; and that government of the People by the People and for the People shall not perish from the earth.作者:

"no bastards have ever won the war by dying for his country.who won it by making the other poor bastards dying for their country."
so,we do not want to die for our country but to fight for nation's glory and civilians' freedom and rights .When such war brought our people nothing but a long long casulty list and sharply increasing prices.Each individual would urged that if we haven't benefited from this disaster meanwhile we wouldn't lose anything by giving up conflicts.What hell reasons could policians give us to continue the war?Don't tell our nobodies the cost of liberalization of emperor's subjects is millions of borned-free lives.Tragedy in remote planets thousands light-years away is,for us,just as some short news on brief biz board——they seems vital but doing no harm.作者:
